The Situation

Small and mid-sized fleets in California face steep barriers to electrification — not due to lack of vehicle availability, but because of high infrastructure costs, permitting complexity, and unreliable access to public charging.

Aztec Solar and Sierra Pacific Home & Comfort, two regional service providers, recognized a larger issue: electrifying their own trucks wouldn’t be enough. The region needed a shared, cost-effective charging solution designed specifically for commercial use.

Aztec Solar and Sierra Pacific recognized that electrifying their own fleets alone would not address the broader issue.

The Mitra Solution

Mitra EV developed and deployed Sacramento’s first shared fast-charging hub for electric trucks, serving multiple fleet operators with reservation-based access and end-to-end operational support.

Key features included:

  • Shared DC fast-charging architecture optimized for commercial trucks

  • Reservation system to eliminate wait times and reduce downtime

  • Right-sized infrastructure based on real-world fleet usage

  • Turnkey execution: permitting, construction, interconnection

  • Performance analytics to measure cost savings and utilization

“By working with us, this Sacramento fleet achieved more than 75% fuel savings from day one, without any downtime or disruption.”

The Results

The shared charging hub in Rancho Cordova, enabled small fleets to electrify without building their own infrastructure.

>75% reduction in monthly fuel costs

Zero operational disruption during deployment

Improved charger utilization via shared access model

Accelerated EV adoption among adjacent fleets in the region

What This Proves

Fleet electrification doesn’t fail because EVs are unavailable — it fails when infrastructure is built in isolation.

This project demonstrates that shared, purpose-built charging with a turnkey delivery model can unlock savings, scale, and confidence in small fleet electrification.

“We’ve already compared operating our trucks on gas versus electric, and the difference is clear.”
